Tour Itinerary
You will be picked from your Arusha hotel in the morning, and transferred to Marangu, located at the foothill of Kilimanjaro just outside the entrance to the park. This tour provides spectacular panoramic views, perfect for taking pictures.
We organize for you the visit to a home and memorial of late Yohano Lawro, the first local who climbed the mountain, as he joined Dr. Hans Meyer on the first recorded successful climb in 1889. Here you will have the opportunity to read original log books of Mr. Lawro, who lived long and fruitful life for astonishing 115 years! Documented evidence tell the story of his amazing adventures up the Kilimanjaro, as he guided treks up the mountain until the age of 70.
As you walk through Marangu, you will be hypnotized by fantastic sceneries and numerous waterfalls such are Kinukamori, Moongo and Mteshani Falls. A picnic lunch will be served at the waterfalls.
At the Chief Mangi area, you can see that the first court and primary school in the northern region of Tanzania are still functioning. Kilema Roman Catholic mission keeps the first coffee tree planted in Tanzania by Irish missionaries about 100 years ago. Today, Kilimanjaro area is the leading coffee producer in the country.
